Edit an existing page
Open the editor, sign in, and select Pages. Choose a page, update its title or text, and use Save. Use the formatting toolbar for headings, bold text, links, and lists. The Preview button opens the result.
Add a page
In Pages, choose the section where your page belongs and select Add Page. Give it a title and choose Reference as the page type. Write the introduction and body, add sources and topics, then save. Published pages appear automatically in their section’s listing.
Add a photograph
Add a page under Photos & stories, choosing Photo. Upload the image using Page Media, then enter its filename in Image filename, plus the date and photographer credit. Save the page.
Keep a draft
Use the page’s Published / Draft setting to keep unfinished work off the public site. Check the preview before publishing. A draft preview is available to signed-in editors; visitors cannot see unpublished pages.
Update an almanac month
Open Almanac, select a month, and edit the relevant dated heading and paragraph. Keep the source’s dates and attribution. Corrections should be supported by evidence; changing the text is not itself a scientific review.
What needs technical maintenance?
Routine writing, new pages, uploads, and publication happen here in the editor. Hosting, software updates, backups, and changes to weather integrations still need a site administrator. The separate handover guide explains those responsibilities.
Move, rename, or split a page
Before changing a page’s web address or splitting its content, ask the site administrator to review the legacy redirect map and that page’s URL aliases. Every old link needs a suitable replacement. When splitting an article, send each old link to the closest matching new article or an overview of the new material. Current pages must always take precedence over old redirects. Check the navigation and the old links after publishing. Changing a title alone does not require changing the page’s address.
